Conservative Christian Columnist Cal Thomas said in a recent interview for Newsmax magazine one of the biggest revelations in reviewing the last 40 years is the overall “ignorance of the American electorate.” He urges Americans to be “engaged all the time” not just when election season rolls around. “A constitutional republic needs to be constantly renewed,” he said. “you have to be engaged all the time.”

Thomas stated there are three major contributing factors common among nations that have collapsed:
– Massive national debt
– Uncontrolled immigration
– Loss of a shared set of moral values

However, Cal Thomas also maintains some hope for the future and says the nation’s path could change through the “power of the individual” – something he said has been “ignored by a lot of people.” Real power resides in us not the government.
